Fully featured and with a built-in refrigerating compressor, the Breville BCI600XL Smart Scoop Ice Cream Maker is perfect for making homemade gelato, sorbet, frozen yogurt and of course, ice cream. As well as being easy to operate you also have the choice of a dozen different softness settings so you can make it just the way you like it everytime.
As a premium ice cream maker, the Breville BCI600XL Smart Scoop Ice Cream Maker has its own self-refrigerating compressor, a feature which you typically won’t find on cheaper models and although it means the price is a bit higher it makes the process of making frozen desserts a whole lot easier as there is no lengthy pre-chilling required.
Operating the Breville BCI600XL Smart Scoop Ice Cream Maker is simplicity itself; just add the ingredients, use the dial to choose your desired hardness and away you go. The hardness setting is pretty clever with the machine automatically detecting the consistency of the ice cream and then maintaining it once the chosen thickness has been reached.
The “keep-cool” option holds the dessert at a chilled temperature so you don’t have to rush to scoop your ice cream/gelato/sorbet into another container and there is also a pause button which you can use to add extra ingredients mid-way through the churning process. The 1 1/2 quart capacity isn’t exactly huge, but unless you’re a serious ice cream addict then should prove to be more than adequate.
Overall the Breville BCI600XL Smart Scoop Ice Cream Maker is a great option if you want a proper self-refrigerating ice cream maker without breaking the bank. Whilst it’s maximum capacity is a little lower than we would have liked, it’s easy to use and provides great results whatever type of frozen desserts you enjoy.
